Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Though moralistic in its ultimate message, this drama about a man's struggle with his conscience does show scenes of less than ideal socialist life in Vietnam. Hung has a white-collar job in a factory and is a man of standing, ready to move up to a coveted governmental office in his next promotion. His wife is a social maven eager to ascend higher among the elite, while his son likes to hang out with his motorcycle gang. His daughter, however, is a young innocent who can take a determined stance on the side of morality. Hung is really put to the test when he causes an accident that sent a poor young worker at the factory to the hospital. Hung and his conscience wage war with each other, while his family loads the dice with their own versions of what he should or shouldn't do.
