The six-part series Living Islam documents the ideologies and culture of Islam in efforts to establish an understanding of the conflicts between Muslim countries and the Western world. The documentary was produced by the BBC and is hosted by anthropologist Akbar Ahmad. Struggling With Modernity examines the conflicts the Islam world confronts in adapting to life in the new millennium. It includes a look at the Iranian revolution, a symbolic act of denunciation of modern life, and the challenges Muslims face in conforming religious practices to the demands of contemporary law, science, and politics. Other programs in this series are Among the Non-Believers, Foundations, Paradise Lies at the Feet of Our Mother, The Challenge of the Past, and The Last Crusade.
