The six-part series Living Islam documents the ideologies and culture of Islam in efforts to establish an understanding of the conflicts between Muslim countries and the Western world. The documentary was produced by the BBC and is hosted by anthropologist Akbar Ahmad. Foundations offers an introduction to the elements of the faith, including comparisons between the Christian deity Jesus and Muhammad, the Prophet of Allah. It also presents background on the division between Sunni and Shia, the two primary Islam groups. Other programs in this series are Among the Non-Believers, Paradise Lies at the Feet of Our Mother, Struggling With Modernity, The Challenge of the Past, and The Last Crusade.
