Synopsis by Sally Barber
Living in the Past is a creative three-part series documenting three significant periods of British history. Programs illustrate how everyday people lived their lives and endured, often under difficult circumstances. The episode Life in Victorian Times recounts the period from 1837 to 1901, the years in which Queen Victoria reigned. It was an era when the nation took leaps forward in wealth, technology, and culture. This program combines photos and paintings with expert commentary and historical analyses to provide a realistic and informative picture of life under Victoria's rule during the great Industrial Revolution. It examines the difficult conditions and poverty endured by the common man. Other programs in the series are Life in Medieval Times and Life in Anglo-Saxon Times.
