Synopsis by Sally Barber
Living in the Past is a creative three-part series documenting three significant periods of British history. Programs illustrate how everyday people lived their lives and endured, often under difficult circumstances. The episode Life in Anglo-Saxon Times recounts a time of great change, the period from 449 to 1066. These centuries mark the era in which England developed its national identity. Reconstructions of daily life, rare period paintings, and engravings combine with expert commentary and historical analyses to provide a realistic and informative picture of the Anglo-Saxon period. Other programs in the series are Life in Victorian Times and Life in Medieval Times.
