Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Little Jerry Carmichael (Madge Evans) lives in a tenement with her widowed mother (Pinna Nesbit). Before she dies, Mrs. Carmichael sends a letter to her estranged father-in-law, Earl Carnimore (Jack Drumier), pleading with him to take charge of Jerry; she then hides Jerry's birth certificate. After Mrs. Carmichael's death, Jerry is sent to an orphanage and her birth certificate is found by a neighbor, Jim Dawson (James Davis), whose daughter Sophie (Maxine Elliott Hicks) is about Jerry's age. He decides to put one over on the Earl. The Earl, meanwhile, has sent a solicitor to the U.S. to find Jerry, who has run away from the orphanage with another child and joined the circus. He finally locates her at the circus and brings her to the Earl's estate in England where she has full run of the place. Dawson shows up with his daughter, but he's too late to pull off his scam. Jerry solves a long-standing mystery at the Earl's castle and brings happiness to her new relatives.
