Synopsis by Mark Deming

Two siblings with a difficult relationship find it doesn't get any better when they start new lives in a new land in this drama from writer and director Mira Fornayová. Alzbeta (Reka Derzsi) and Martina (Rita Banczi) are a pair of sisters from the Czech Republic who have pulled up stakes and moved to Ireland. Alzbeta is in her early twenties and wants to find a husband and have a place of her own; Martina, meanwhile, is older, has been in Ireland longer, is engaged to Steve (Aaron Monaghan) and wants to help her sister however she can. But while Martina extends a hand to her sister, Alzbeta stubbornly refuses to accept it, and seems to maintain an emotional distance from her sibling. When Alzbeta meets an eccentric punk rocker named Ducky (Jitka Joskova), she quickly strikes up a romance with him and moves into his flat. Martina is wary of Ducky, and believes that jealousy is to blame for her sister's attitudes, but there's a darker side to their family story that has informed Alzbeta's attitude towards Martina. Listicky (aka Foxes) was an official selection at the 2009 Venice International Film Festival.
