In this politically correct film, six families share a communal kitchen in a temporary housing development until they are given assignments to their new apartments. As they wait and wait, they become aware that money that should go toward the new apartments for families like themselves is being used to build a luxury hotel for tourists, or to build secret and stylish apartments for high government officials. The families band together to correct these violations, with a sense that they should all work together for the betterment of China, and to help each other.
