Synopsis by Cammila Collar
The 17th Sokan emperor is on his deathbed and his son is poised to inherit the kingdom. One minor problem stands between the young heir and the throne: he must first chose a bride. Among the thousands of girls who flock to the Forbidden City for a chance at becoming royalty is Ginga, a quick-witted, outspoken farm girl who thinks that any life outside the rice paddies sounds like an improvement. She is in for more of a challenge than she anticipated, however, when she sees her competition. Can Ginga rise to the challenge and prove that she has just what it takes to help lead a nation? Like the Clouds, Like the Wind is often mistaken for a Studio Ghibli or Hayao Miyazaki film because of its inspiring themes, strong young heroine, and soft, detailed art style; however, this animated drama was produced by Studio Pierrot.
