Surviving the plunge into the ocean in chapter 13, Lightning Bryce (Jack Hoxie) learns that "a queer woman" has recovered the treasure. Believing that Lightning has drowned, the Mystery Woman (Jill Woodward) returns to the Indian tribe, who greets her as a long-lost princess. When a psychic old squaw predicts that Lightning is still alive, the veiled woman hurries to his side but is captured by Solvang (Paul Hurst), who has recognized her from a telltale scar. Tied up in Solvang's shack, the woman is soon joined by Lightning, whom the villain has managed to catch en route from New York. Lightning is finally about to learn the truth about the Mystery Woman when an avalanche buries the cabin.
