In order to save Lightning (Jack Hoxie), Kate (Ann Little) agrees to marry the nasty Solvang (Paul Hurst). Our hero, meanwhile, manages to escape from his prison in the trunk and a telephone call from the veiled Mystery Woman (Jill Woodward) warns him of the upcoming nuptials. After saving Kate from a fate worse than death, Lightning convinces a friend, Selby (Walter Patterson), to help crack the safe containing the treasure. The break-in is successful but the treacherous butler, Lefty (Noble Johnson), forces the getaway vehicle off the pier into the ocean.
