Despite the fact that this film was made in 1974 as a propaganda piece to extol the work on the newly constructed portions of the Prague subway, skillful direction helps it transcend this narrow emphasis. The lives of those who worked on the subway and the changes others experienced as a result of its construction are brought to life in a series of sharply drawn sketches.
