Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Elsie Corwin (Alma Hanlon) is a poor working girl who is engaged to her childhood sweetheart Bob (Edward Langford), a young man of modest means. She meets "the libertine" -- the rich and worldly Jim Mills (John Mason) and throws over Bob -- even though she loves him -- in favor of becoming Jim's mistress. But according to the morality of the day, Elsie has to suffer for her sins and she winds up jumping in the river because of her shameful ways. The film, however, still manages to have a happy, and morally correct, ending -- Elsie wakes up, discovers it was all a dream, and gratefully accepts the nice young man who loves her.
