Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
A humble cleaning woman working in a cold research laboratory strikes up a most unusual inter-species friendship in Paul Zindel's poignant tale of love and understanding. A normal woman who has thus far lead an extraordinarily average life, the friendless cleaning lady that tends to the cold and clinical research laboratory is shocked to discover that the dolphin housed in a claustrophobic tank has the remarkable ability to communicate through speech. As the friendship between the pair grows and the skeptical scientists do their best to indoctrinate the woman and convince her that dolphins simply do not have the capacity for speech, her frustration with the coolly intellectual atmosphere of the lab drives her to take a bold and unprecedented stance for her newfound friend.
