Leslie has been hearing voices in his head since he was a small child. His parents could not deal with his abnormal behavior, and abandoned him when he reached his teen years. Leslie: A Portrait of Schizophrenia is an account of the unseen forces beyond his control, as he struggles to understand his illness. Despite his diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, Leslie uses his extraordinary gifts of storytelling, art, and music to produce the principal elements of this program, relating his survival of a suicide attempt and other events in his life.
