Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
At a time when there was no legal system in Egypt and anyone with enough power -- or the right heritage -- took charge of a village, a young tailor decides to try to join the closed circle of leadership because in the end, the petty chieftains also offered protection to those chained under their wings. The tailor is given the task of spying on a pretty woman who is destined to be the fourth wife of the village head -- is she faithful or not, that is the question. After observing the woman, the tailor falls in love with her and their relationship grows to the point where they decide to run off together to an enemy village and seek asylum -- a bad move, given the morals of the chieftains. The young woman is raped by the village leader in front of the tailor, who is told that the act was to insult the chief in their original village -- the leader knew she was betrothed to him. The young pair run away from this frightful situation and return home, but the tailor is not a free man and is drawn into a combat that could prove fatal.
