Legacy: The Origins of Civilization - Iraq, The Cradle of Civilization is another in the series of programs that examines ancient centers of power and their effects on present-day populations. Michael Wood, historian and host of the series, travels to the first cities of the world, including Baghdad, Ur, and Sumer. He points out that life in this region had changed little until oil became a factor in its development. The program shows the Iraqis as they struggle with the devastating effects of the Gulf War.
