Schoolmarm Evelyn Hastings (Fritzi Ridgeway) brings a bit of civilization to the old West when cattle rancher Jim Benton (minor silent Western star Roy Stewart) asks her to teach him and his cowboys "book learnin'." But there's trouble brewing between the cattlemen and the sheep ranchers. The sheepmen dam up a creek that supplies water to the cattle, and both sets of ranchers battle it out before the cattlemen are able to dynamite the dam. One of the sheepmen is killed in the shoot-out, and they pin his death on Jim, even though he is innocent. The trial is against him, but Evelyn goes to the state's governor and returns with a pardon before he can be hanged.
