Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
A promising young Senegalese soccer player dreams of becoming a professional in this drama. Unfortunately for the talented Baba, he must overcome many obstacles if he is to achieve his dream. First he must deal with his uncle Sega, who himself once dreamed of being a football player and failed. Baba must also face his poverty and his overbearing father who demands that his son earn money to support him and his two nasty wives. Poor Baba also finds himself exploited by his girl friend, who dumps him after he spends his last dime on her. A French soccer team then reneges on their promise to give Baba a contract, prompting he and uncle Sega to leave their lively village and go to Paris where they end up living in grim surroundings.
