Synopsis by Dan Pavlides

Documentary film cameras return to the area of Paris cafes where the Existentialist movement was started by Jean-Paul Sartre. Sartre himself is seen in a brief interview at Le Tabou along with songwriter Boris Vian, and intellectuals and youths in post-World War II Paris react to the aftermath of the war. The participants recall the early days of the social changes that led to the movement. This area of Paris has long been a Mecca for tourists, artists, and Bohemians.
