Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

This sensationalistic French documentary looks at some of the more outre aspects of the voodoo cult, including animal sacrifice, without offering much insight into this little-understood and much-maligned religion. Voodoo is most often depicted as a sensationalistic cult composed of devil-worshippers and useful for making zombies. In fact, it is an African-based religious practice, deriving from the religions of West Africa. As such, it has all sorts of complex symbolism and its own set of deep ethical concerns, facts that are not often brought to light in Western examinations of voodoo.
