Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
When the Norwegian military is set to test some weapons in a remote area of the country, the people from a nearby village protest their presence by staging a sit-in. A young conscript is called on to do some sophisticated tests in the same place, a valley coincidentally rented out to the military by his landowner father. He remembers how he used to wander that land, shooting off less-powerful weapons as an illegal poacher. Except for the scale, are his activities for the military now any different than his former illegal use of weapons? The issues raised by the village protestors do not go away, affecting even the NATO visitors, as faint shadows of doubt come and go, leaving traces behind. The soldier realizes that his orders and his conscience are in conflict, yet he will be forced to decide between the two very soon.
