Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

The Korean War marked the first time the two post-World War II super powers of the United States and the Soviet Union faced off against each other. This first armed conflict of the Cold War saw America trying to stem the rise of communism. On this point, President Harry S. Truman and General Douglas MacArthur agreed. But they agreed on little else, and certainly not on how to run a war on the other side of the world. This documentary chronicles their power struggles and how it affected the fates of people on both sides of the conflict. Archival film footage, photographs, personal accounts, and commentary by historians tell the story.
