Synopsis by Erin Demers
First-time director Juan Carlos Pineiro Escoriaza presents this riveting drama written and acted by children who have lived their lives shuttling in and out of the foster care system due to parental neglect and/or abuse. Addie (Niquana Clark ) badly wants out of high school but can't seem to conform to the rules. Megan (Claribelle Pagan) enters a residential treatment center after being removed from her abusive household. Eva's (Gabrielle Garcia) father breaks promise after promise to stay off of crack, causing her to take on the role of parent to her little sister. Finally, homeless Austin (Gilbert Howard) struggles with hunger while living on the streets with his brother. Each one of these children must make their own choice whether to survive or allow themselves to be swallowed up by a broken system.
