Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Gyan Mukherjee directs this massive box-office success centering on a lovable pickpocket named Shekar (Ashok Kumar) who befriends an impoverished theater owner (P.F. Pithawala) and father to the beautiful singer Rani (Mumtaz Shanti). Long ago in a mad fit of greed, the old man forced his daughter to dance until she was exhausted and crippled. Rani immediately falls in love with her and sets out to steal the money from the theater's current villainous owner Indrajit in order to pay for an operation that will let her walk once again. After a series of events, Shekar not only gets arrested, but also accidentally implicates Rani as well. Everyone is saved when it is revealed that Shekar is in fact Indrajit's long lost son.
