Synopsis by Hal Erickson

One of several Japanese animé series seen on the Fox Network's "Fox Box" Saturday a.m. lineup during the 2002-2003 season, Kirby: Right Back at Ya was based on a Nintendo video game of the same name. The setting was Dreamland, ruled over by unbenevolent despot King Dedede. The downtrodden citizens of Dreamland held out hope that a legendary warrior would free them from Dedede's iron rule. Enter Kirby, a Warpstar knight-in-training who resembled a pin cushion wearing a nightcap. Though small in stature, Kirby possessed a hugely impressive talent -- the ability to "inhale" villains, spit them out, and absorb their strength. With the help of friends Tiff and Tuff, and sidelines observers Fololo and Falala, Kirby took on the minions of King Dedede, who, in turn, made periodic visits to the offices of NME (Night Mare Enterprises) for computer-generated reinforcements. Kirby: Right Back at Ya made its American TV debut on September 14, 2002.
