Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

Certain comedies are more revealing about the society and times they arose within than more serious works, and one suspects that this critically spurned movie is one of those. In the story, Mustafa is a Turkish smuggler of mixed Turkish and Greek ancestry who has crossed the border to do business with a Greek lad named Yannis. Mustafa claims that he has a Greek grandmother and wants to accompany Yannis back to Athens to see her. The younger man doesn't believe the Turk for a moment and tries everything in his power to shake him. Despite this, Mustafa makes it to Athens and proves that he is not there to disturb the drug-smuggling operation run by Yannis' uncle but really does want to see his grandmother. It turns out that the woman in question is also Yannis' grandmother, and these two "enemies" are first cousins who never knew of one another's existence.
