The mischievous son of a Rewalsar textile merchant falls for the pretty daughter of a young war widow, but finds their blossoming romance threatened when one of his harmless pranks goes horribly awry. When Birju (Bobby Deol) first lays eyes on Neha, he's convinced that the woman of his dreams has just walked into his life. And though Neha appreciates Birju's prankish sense of humor, a joke gone too far threatens to drive them apart forever. Meanwhile, in Shimla, good-humored laundromat owner longs for the day he will leave his dreary life behind, and travel to England, and an anxious doctor aids Neha in dealing with an intense personal crisis.
