Karamuk is the first feature film from Sulbiye V. Gunar. Johanna (Julia Mahnecke) wants to get into an exclusive design school in Paris. She goes to her absentee father (Klaus J. Behrendt) to ask for his financial assistance and is taken aback when she learns that the man is not really her father. Upon learning that her real father, Cumhur (Adnan Maral), is a restauranteur, Johanna gets a job at his establishment in order to discover more about him. Complicating things further, Johanna's nemesis at school, Idil (Buket Yeni), turns out to be her half-sister. Karamuk was screened at both the Gothenburg Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival.
