Based on the autobiographical novel of Turkish feminist Ayse Nil, Kaciklik Diplomasi is a cleverly shot and well-acted drama about a woman's struggle against her manic depression. In terms of depiction of insanity, it is nowhere near One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest or similar memorable films. However, the film received the "Best Editing" and the "Best Cinematography" awards in the National Competitions in Antalya (Golden Orange Film Festival) in 1998.
