Like the other productions in the Just the Facts: World War II series, the events and decisions documented are based on actual events and statistics, and claim not to have a rose-colored or otherwise biased version of history. In Home Front U.S.A, the focus is on life within America's borders during the second World War; among the topics include domestic propoganda, civilian defense, the dawn of working women, and the incorporation of rationing, victory gardens, and scrap dives into everyday life. There is also a segment on Hollywood's role on the war, as well as what were initially believed to be President Roosevelt's "impossible" 1942 production goals, which included the completion of 60,000 aircrafts, 45,000 tanks, 20,000 anti-aircraft guns, and 8,000,000 tons of shipping.
