Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
Jukyu-sai no Chizu is about the corruption of a young man as he tries to come out of his lowly economic straits into a better financial life. Masaru (Yuji Honma) and several other men around his age (nineteen) live with a couple who pays them to deliver newspapers and collect the fees. This system rarely works, since people simply avoid paying him or in some cases, the families have snarling dogs that prevent Masaru from approaching their door. He also notes injustices or mistreatment going on around him, and in a gradual way, Masaru starts to become hardened and transformed by his experience.
