Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Another of the many "Judge" shows pervading the syndicated-TV daytime hours, Judge David Young was presided over by the jurist who rose to national fame by sentencing two America West airline pilots to jail for trying to operate a plane while drunk. A former Miama-Dade County Assistant District Attorney, Judge David Young had a youthful, conservative that belied his occasional capriciousness and flights of whimsy at the bench. Often as not, the Judge enlived the proceedings with snatches of show tunes and operatic arias; and he was also fond of one-liners and plays on words. Further setting Young apart from his fellow TV judges was his fondness for wearing a silver penguin pen on his black robe--not to mention the fact that he was openly gay. Though some of Young's rulings were controversial (especially to those whom he ruled against!), they were always scrupulously fair-minded; and just to make certain that audiences throughly understood what had been going on for the past half hour, the Judge would end each show by carefully explaining the reasoning behind his decisions for the benefit of the court observers. Distributed by Sony Television, Judge David Young entered national syndication the week of September 10, 2007.
