Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Juan Vincente Gomez was the dictator of Venezuela for 28 years, from 1908 until 1935. In this documentary, his life and influence is shown. Gomez was a coffee grower, and during his rule over Venezuela, he personally took ownership over an area of land as large as Denmark and Holland combined. However, despite the corruption and greed of his government, he did nothing to prevent the development of a Venezuelan middle-class, so that his era inadvertently laid the groundwork for present-day prosperity in that country.
