Description by Fabric Origin

When Joyce Chopra was eight months pregnant, a friend challenged her to make a film about juggling the conflicting demands of a baby, a husband and a career. Accepting the dare, she went on to produce a remarkably entertaining film and one of the first autobiographical documentaries ever made.

Chopra - director of Sundance Award-winning film SMOOTH TALK - filmed JOYCE AT 34 at a pivotal time during the feminist movement when women were creating new opportunities to be both professionals and parents, and men were expected to take a greater role in parenting. Over 40 years later, the pressures to balance work and family remain as strong as ever. The film has a long history as a conversation starter, but for years it has fallen out of general circulation, unavailable on home video or digital platforms, until now.
