In the 1960s, Patti LaBelle first became a regular visitor to the R&B charts with her vocal group Patti LaBelle and the Blue Belles. In the '70s, she formed the outrageous glam\funk trio LaBelle and created a sound and image which broke new ground in R&B. In the '80s, she finally ventured out on her own with a solo career which cemented her reputation as one of the truly great pop divas of her generation. Journeys in Black: Patti LaBelle is a documentary in which the singer discusses her long and storied career. Several of Patti's friends also share their memories, including Whitney Houston, Whoopi Goldberg, and former President Bill Clinton.
