Synopsis by Gönül Dönmez-Colin
A gang of petty crooks who are as likeable as they are useless are looking for their big break. They finally find the scenario for the perfect crime in a book called "Jimmy the Kid," about a non-violent kidnapping of a rich little boy. While trying to carry out this scheme, their small problems get bigger when the kidnapped boy turns out to be a girl; what's more, her IQ is well above that of the gang members -- combined! Strangely enough, the gang provides Jenny with the warmth and affection that she misses in her "golden cage" at home, and the kidnapping becomes a great adventure for her. She even makes sure that the old adage "Crime does not pay" does not apply in the case of her new friends. Jimmy The Kid was screened as part of the New German Films program of the 49th International Berlin Film Festival, 1999.
