Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Jakub has been told that his father is away in Africa. His mother, who has remarried, simply didn't want to tell the truth: that her ex-husband was doing time as a convict. The Africa story inflames Jakub's imagination and isolates him somewhat from his schoolmates. When his father is released, Jakub goes for a while to spend time with him in his barren mid-city apartment, but when he discovers where he really was all those years, the disillusioned lad runs away.
