Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This six-episode children's anthology was a spin-off of the incredibly durable (3,500 episodes) BBC offering Jackanory. Like its parent series, Jackanory Playhouse offered visualizations of famous children's stories. The difference here was that, whereas Jackanory merely featured offscreen narrators and still-picture illustrations, the spin-off trafficked in comparatively full-scale reenactments. Among the well-known performers seen on the series were Roy Kinnear, James Bolam, Hannah Gordon, and Joan Sims. Jackanory Playhouse aired in 1972.
