Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Seekers of Happiness was underwritten by the White Russian Cinema Trust. It is set in Birobijan, a self-governing Jewish province in the Far Eastern corner of the USSR. While most of the residents are hard and dedicated workers, lazy Pinya is not. Making things worse, Pinya hoards his wealth, refusing to share it with his neighbors in true communal fashion. Confronted by his honest brother-in-law, Pinya flees Birobijan with his precious gold stash. Imagine his dismay when he learns that his "gold" is just worthless iron pyrite -- a Lesson For Us All.
