Synopsis by Mark Deming

One of the most distinctive artists in 1970s soul music, Isaac Hayes delivers a powerful performance in this concert film, shot during a 1973 appearance in Atlanta, GA, by Hayes and his band (with a full orchestra in tow). Featuring the stretched-out and sensuous versions of pop classics for which Hayes was known, Isaac Hayes: The Black Moses of Soul includes performances of "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "The Look of Love," "I Stand Accused," "Light My Fire," "Never Can Say Goodbye," and "I Don't Know What to Do With Myself."
