Synopsis by Janiss Garza
When her husband dies, Sarah Maitland (Nance O'Neil) has to run his iron mills by herself, along with raising their two children. She coddles the boy, Blair (Alfred Hickman), but the girl, Nannie (Evelyn Brent), remains unspoiled (naturally the rest of the story focuses on Blair, since he's the more interesting one). Blair goes to college and becomes a playboy and a spendthrift. He steals Elizabeth Ferguson (Vera Sisson) away from his best friend, David Ritchie (Einar Linden). But Elizabeth has just married him for spite; she still loves David. It takes a lecture from David's mother Helena (Christine Mayo) about her own sordid past to bring the estranged couple to their senses. This rather confusing story was based on a novel by Margaret Deland.
