Review by Hans J. Wollstein

Hack director Edward L. Cahn helmed this entire sci-fi comedy on a sound stage and a very small sound stage at that. The result is claustrophobic at best, but that is only one of the problems facing an unsuspecting audience. Much worse is the fact that Invasion of the Saucer Men simply isn't funny but is clearly meant to be. The cast, which includes Frank Gorshin and the not untalented Lynn Osborn, all but winks to let you in on the joke, but the joke seems to be on them for being in this movie in the first place. The saucer men are actually little green and childlike Paul Blaisdell creatures and one of them is rather gruesomely gored by a bull, an alarming incident in a comedy. Amazingly, Invasion of the Saucer Men, bad as it was, was remade in the 1960s as The Eye Creatures.
