Synopsis by Mark Deming
In this British drama, Jack Hamilton (Roderick Mangin-Turner) is a man who understands women and uses that understanding in an unusual way -- he's a gigolo, charging women $250 an hour for giving them what they desire, be it sexual gratification or just an understanding ear. Jack is intelligent (he's a former college professor) and good looking, but ever since his former girlfriend Michelle (Daphne Nayar) left him, he's been at loose ends emotionally and has been drinking a great deal. Unable to hold onto a real relationship, Jack makes his way through a series of false (but profitable) relationships with a variety of women, ranging from a neglected housewife to a busy career woman to a wealthy virgin. Intimate with a Stranger marked the feature debut for writer/director Mel Woods; leading man Roderick Mangin-Turner also co-wrote the screenplay.
