Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar
Take a look below the streets of New York City in this A&E episode of Inside Story. This documentary, narrated by Bill Kurtis, follows some of the men and women who work in the tunnels under Manhattan to see what life is like below the sidewalks of this metropolis. Some of the jobs they do range from getting rid of graffiti to repairing the water works and sewage systems, and even scouring the tunnels in search of homeless people who take shelter underground. Inside Story looks at the life and work of one man who has made the underground tunnel system his life's work. Nick Giammona used to play in the underground New York tunnels as a child and now works underneath Grand Central Station. Few people know that beneath the sidewalks of New York City lies an entirely different but just as complex city.
