Originally produced for French television, the computer-generated cartoon series Insektors was about two warring insect races. The heroes boasted brightly colored costumes, and celebrated sunshine and good fellowship; the villains favored grays and dark browns, and were as sullen as they were nasty. The 26 15-minute Insektors episodes first aired in Britain in 1994, at which time the characters' names were "Anglicized" so that the heroes were known as the Verygreens and the villains were identified as the Kruds. (When the series was shown in Canada two years later, the characters underwent yet another name change, with the good insects and the bad insects respectively rechristened as the "Joyces" and the "Yuks").
