Synopsis by Rob Ferrier
This video chronicles the tragic last voyage of the U.S.S. Indianapolis. During the closing days of the war, the Indianapolis was transporting atomic bomb components when it was sunk by a Japanese submarine. Because the mission was so secret, the ship was not immediately missed, nor were rescuers immediately dispatched. For several days, the sailors of the Indianapolis bobbed helplessly on an oil-slicked ocean full of dead and dying. Horrifyingly, the ultimate result of the sinking was the worst loss of life to shark attack in the history of the U.S. Navy. Through interviews with survivors, the tragic events of the Indianapolis are brought to startling life.
