Billed as "a review of present-day life and people and culture in the USSR," the film was originally divided into five parts, each produced by a different studio. American prints consisted of four sections, all equipped with English subtitles. "What the Soviets Eat," directed by Kiril Eggers, shows the means of supplying food to Russian tables. "Laboratory on Wheels," directed by S. Reibert, details the efforts of Russia's mobile veterinarians. "From Moscow to Sukhumi," directed by Marianna Semyonova, is a paean to the Soviet highway system. Best of the four components is "Olympic Champions," directed by M. Monskoy, highlighting Russia's top athletes.
