Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar
Part of the In Search Of series, this documentary examines the extensive collections and treasures that the Nazis stole and hoarded during World War II. Adolf Hitler's goal was to make Linz, Austria, the artistic capital of Europe because so many of the treasures were hidden there. Narrated by series host Leonard Nimoy, In Search of Nazi Plunder features documented reports of some of the actual thefts of art, currency, and gold. There is also a look at the continuing search for some of the known artistic treasures that have not yet been reclaimed, as well as discussions with art historians about the significance of these valuables and the impact of these lost treasures and fortunes on the culture.
