The Eskimo docudrama Igloo was written and directed by Ewing Scott, whose previous credits included the thematically similar silent feature Frozen Justice. The all-Eskimo cast includes Chee-Ak as the hero, a native hunter, and Kyatuk as his sweetheart, the daughter of tribal chief Lanak. Appearing out of nowhere from a neighboring tribe, Chee-Ak supplies the ice-bound Lanak with enough seal meat to feed everyone in the region. Comes the spring thaw, and Chee-Ak is rewarded for his efforts when Lanak blesses the boy's marriage to Kyatuk. This happy turn of events is offset by the tragic custom of abandoning the older, feebler members of the tribe in remote ice houses, where they will eventually freeze to death. A last-minute uprising by the natives against the "interloping" Chee-Ak is forestalled by an ice breakup which permits everyone in the region to participate in a thrilling (and sometimes gruesome) walrus hunt.
